Plasma Gun / Beam
Widely regarded by the community as a "mandatory" weapon for deep runs. The Plasma Gun generates massive area-of-effect (AoE) damage that completely erases dense packs of enemies. At maximum rarity, it transforms into an unstoppable screen-clearing beam.
Mechanics: The Screen Erasing Beam
Like the Axe, the Plasma Gun does not fuse with an accessory to form a uniquely named evolution. Instead, it scales exponentially through Rarity and Supercharge points:
- Infinite Penetration: At Legendary Rarity, the Plasma Gun projects a beam that travels an "essentially infinite" distance across the screen, damaging everything in its path simultaneously. It completely ignores enemy body-blocking.
- Area of Effect: The beam grows incredibly thick, acting less like a gun and more like a massive wall of deletion.
- The Trade-off: The Plasma beam has a noticeable firing interval/cooldown. It also suffers from weaker single-target DPS, making it highly inefficient at taking down elite bosses quickly.
Playstyle & Synergies
The Plasma Beam dictates your macro-movement strategy. Because it sweeps back and forth or fires in thick cones, you want to kite enemies into massive, clustered balls.
Best Hero: Echo
The community consensus heavily pairs the Plasma Gun with the hero Echo. Echo's innate Area Damage multiplier combined with the Plasma Gun creates a map-wiping synergy where the beam's width covers nearly 40% of the visible un-shrunk arena.
The "Perfect Storm" Weapon Pairing
Because the Plasma Gun struggles against Bosses, you **must** pair it with a single-target "Boss Buster". The most common highly-effective loadouts combine the Plasma Gun (AoE) with either the Fist (Stun/Impact) or the Sword (High base DPS). The Plasma clears the small fry so the Fist can isolate and crush the boss.
Warning: Developer Balance Nerfs
The Plasma Gun has historically sat at the absolute top of the meta. Consequently, it is a frequent target for developer community adjustments. Some players have noted recent "silent nerfs" to its damage output against elite mobs. Always hedge your bets by carrying a reliable secondary weapon.
Meta Version Note: This guide reflects the current Area Damage scaling mechanics in Monster Survivors. Due to ongoing tuning patches by FreezeNova, beam width limits and cooldown floors are subject to change. Trust exactly what you see on the Supercharge screen.
