Physical / Projectile Omni-Directional (Late Game)

Crossbow & Throwing Knife

The physical projectile class represents the ultimate "Zero to Hero" arc in Monster Survivors. Initially firing weak, directional shots, these weapons evolve into devastating screen-clearing tools that rely on extreme fire rates and critical hits.

The Crossbow: Zero to Hero

At level 1, the Crossbow is widely considered by the community to be agonizingly weak. It fires a slow, single piercing bolt. However, it scales exponentially with Rarity.

  • Legendary Omnidirectional Fire: The true power of the Crossbow unlocks at Legendary Rarity. Instead of firing straightforward, it becomes a rapid-fire machine that shoots piercing bolts in all directions simultaneously.
  • Mob Control: Because the bolts retain their piercing attribute across a 360-degree radius, a max-level Crossbow is arguably one of the best weapons for deleting massive, wrapping swarms that try to flank you.

Throwing Knife: The Critical Hit Machine

Assassin's Blade Evolution: The Throwing Knife focuses on dense, front-loaded damage. When leveled to maximum capacity, it evolves into the Assassin's Blade, a deadly flurry of daggers boasting a massively inflated Critical Hit Chance. It is heavily favored for rapidly gunning down Elite monsters charging your frontline.

How to Build Physical Projectiles

To survive the grueling early game with these weapons, your passive item build must hyper-focus on stat multiplication:

Vital Stat Priorities

  • 1. Critical Hit Chance & Damage Vital for the Throwing Knife. High fire-rate weapons benefit immensely from crit scaling, as practically every volley will proc critical multipliers.
  • 2. Attack Speed (Cooldown Reduction) Essential for the Crossbow to bridge the gap before hitting Legendary tier, ensuring you fire enough bolts to keep the starting horde at bay.
  • 3. Extra Projectiles (Amount) Adding baseline projectiles drastically widens the coverage arc of the Throwing Knife, effectively turning it into a forward-facing shotgun without the crippling reload time.

Caution: The Early Game Filter

Do not pick the Crossbow or Throwing Knife as your only starting weapon on high-difficulty maps. Their Lv1 forms lack the horizontal coverage necessary to stop fast enemy spawns. Always pair them with early-carry weapons like the Chain Lightning Ring or Sword to survive until the evolutions unlock.

Meta Version Note: This guide reflects the current physical projectile scaling meta. Because the Crossbow's "Zero to Hero" curve is so steep, developers occasionally tweak its Lv1 base damage. Always verify tooltip changes in the latest FreezeNova patch notes.
